"Killin' Time" 12/08/2002

The past week has been fairly interesting. Since I officially still don't have anything to do, I have been trying to pass the time on my own accord. The primary school down at Colonarie has a computer lab so I have mainly just been hanging out there. The teachers know very little about computers so I have been helping them one on one to put together their end of the year exams. I was also able to straighten out a network problem that they were having. Now what to do for the next 4 weeks?

This Friday I went to a fundraiser cocktail party at one of the nicer hotels. It was pretty fun except that there was open bar and, well, somebody I know drank a little too much. On Saturday I hung out with Martha in Layou and then headed back to South Rivers. Today I went for a hike into the interior. With all of the stories I've heard about the ganja farmers I was a little worried, but things turned out ok. I even found a really cool waterfall. It is only about a 45 minute walk from my house. When I have more time, I plan to see if there is a pool where the upper portion of the falls ends.

Being able to stay over in my area of the island without going to town every day has really helped me to feel more comfortable here. Wherever you go, There you are, so you had better enjoy it. Hopefully I'll go on some fun adventures over Christmas and New Years. As long as I don't get too used to not working.
