"Tropical Storm Lili Part II" 9/24/2002
I was able to get some pictures of the damage to the banana crops today. I wonder what the economic effects of this will be. Apparently the government provides some sort of compensation, but it will take a while to rebuild the supply. In the meantime, the European consumers may come to like those Ecuadorian bananas instead. There actually is quite a difference between the bananas here and the ones you buy at home from Latin America. The bananas grown here are smaller and softer, but much sweeter. I have been creating quite a few journal entries lately. That is because I am thoroughly bored. The community center where I am assigned won't be opening for about another month. I will be moving into my own place soon. Getting things organized will keep me busy for a little while. |
