"South Rivers or Bust" 8/11/2002 Today we were given our assignments. I will be going to St. Vincent to work for their Ministry of Technology. My assignment is based in the town of South Rivers. It is a very poor area and is very isolated. St. Vincent receives much less tourism than the other islands and is said to be the best island because there you receive a "real" Peace Corps experience. It looks like this going to be an adventure for me. Our trainer said that this is one of the most challenging assignments as I will be the first volunteer to go to this area for a long time. Pray that I have the skills, courage, and patience to do well there.
