Another beautiful Caribbean sunset. Living on the windward side of St. Vincent where there aren't really any sunsets makes me appreciate them all the more.

Myself, Stefo, and Kevin before heading out on the town. Look out ladies!

This weekend some other PC volunteers and myself spent some time on Bequia. Having not been off of St. Vincent for nearly 5 months, it felt really good to get away. I took the ferry down on Saturday and met up with Kevin and Shauna who had traveled down on Friday. Martha and a visiting friend from Houston, Stefo, came down on Sunday morning. We were all very fortunate to have a place to stay on Bequia. Most of us stayed with Donnache (pronounced Donaka). Donnache was a VSO volunteer in St. Vincent about 10 years ago. Last year he decided to move to Bequia from his home in Ireland. He has since made good friends with all of the Peace Corps volunteers. Fortunately for all of us he doesn't mind if we stay at his house when we visit Bequia. A great host, he even fed us, and made me borrow one of his shirts before going out on Sunday evening. Donnache also has a very funny dog named Smoochie. He adopted the dog from someone who was unable to stay on the island. Donnache himself has to go back to Ireland for the summer to make some money. There isn't really any way to make a living on Bequia other than from tourists, and tourist season ends pretty soon.

I saw quite a few new parts of the island this time. On Sunday, Kevin and I hiked to a place called Hope Bay. It has a really cool beach facing the Atlantic. It would be a good place to go surfing. I didn't bring my camera since there are a lot of rumors of people getting robbed there. Despite there being quite a few people on the island for Easter, Hope Bay was totally abandoned. It was almost an hour hike to get there though.

Quite a few people come down to Bequia on Easter for the Regatta. There are boat races and cookouts and all sorts of fun stuff. I think that I like Bequia when there aren't many other people there. Its more of a peace and quiet kind of place. Hopefully I get to go back soon.
