"Barbados" 2/10/2004
I just got back some of the pictures from the day I spent in Barbados on my way back to St. Vincent. I had two wonderful tour guides, Trish and Trudy. Both are students at Univeristy of the West Indies (Barbados Campus) and I met them while they were visiting St. Vincent for a church retreat. Barbados is very flat compared to the other islands in the region. It also has a population of 260,000 people. All crammed on one little island. It is kind of like one big floating city. It is still a very beautiful place with some amazing beaches. After walking around Bridgetown (the capital) Trish and Trudy took me to Harrison's cave. Barbados is such a small island that I expected the cave to be small too. It is actually very impressive. After the cave we went to the Univeristy of the West Indies campus. UWI is similar to some of the community colleges back in the US. It has campuses on Barbados, Grenada, Trinidad, and Jamaica. My flight was leaving Barbados at 5:00 so after the campus tour we headed for the airport. Thanks to my tour guides and their friend Dillon's driving I was able to see so much of Barbados in just a few hours. |
