Look out it's a killer attack turtle!

"A New Year" 01/02/2003 I spent the past few days traveling through the Grenadines. On the 28th we took the Barracouda ferry from St. Vincent to Union Island. It was a fun ride because we got to see all the islands. The trip took about 6 hours. In Union Island we stayed at Sydneys guest house. It was a really nice place and really cheap. Most of the tourists in this area either stay at Palm Island or on their yachts. The next day we took the first part of the Captain Yannis catamaran tour to the island of Mayreau. We spent the night there and had a campfire on a beach that we had all to ourselves. It actually got pretty cold during the night. The next day, we continued the Captain Yannis tour to the Tobago Cays for snorkeling, and then to Palm Island for beach bumming. The Captian Yannis tour was a way cool thing to do. They have a fleet of catamarans, and they like to keep them uncrowded. You also get breakfast, lunch, and free drinks. Snorkeling gear is included too. After the tour, we spent the night at Sydneys again, and then took the ferry to Bequia for New Year's eve. On Bequia we stayed at a place called Frangipani's which was pretty nice, but a little too pricey for a Peace Corps budget. Before the festivities of New Year's eve Martha, Kathy, and I walked to the eastern side of Bequia to check out the turtle farm. It is a private operation run by Mr. King. He just makes his living showing hawksbill turtles to tourists, and then releasing them when they are mature. It is a very cool walk to the farm from Port Elizabeth. Over the course of the weekend I lost a lot of respect for white tourist people. They are disrespectful, obnoxious, and self destructive. Hey everybody let's act like we're on MTV! What a bunch of tools. Kind of put a damper on my new year's eve, but hey, that's mostly my problem. the "we's" above = Peace Corps Amanda, her friends (Derrick, Ken, Matt, Holly), Peace Corps Martha and her friend Kathy, and Peace Corps Kevin and his girlfriend Lisa.
